Linear instrument position size calculator

Estimate a compliant quantity from account risk and your instrument’s contract rules. All instrument multipliers, quantity steps and conversion rates must be supplied and verified by you.

Example values are illustrative only. They are not instrument specifications and should not be used for a live order.

Formula

Risk per quantity = absolute entry-to-stop distance × price value per quantity unit × settlement-to-account conversion. Raw quantity = risk budget ÷ risk per quantity. The final quantity is rounded down to the supplied quantity step.

Supported model and limitations

This calculation supports only linear price-multiplier instruments with positive prices. It does not model inverse or quanto contracts, options, nonlinear payoffs, tiered margin, liquidation, funding, slippage, gaps or execution.

For Forex, metals, indices, shares, crypto, commodities or futures, do not assume the same quantity or contract convention. Confirm the exact contract specification and conversion-rate direction with the applicable broker or venue. No live prices or specifications are fetched by this calculator.

Educational calculation only; not financial advice, an order instruction, or a guarantee of actual execution.
